Delicioso Dinengdeng de Ilocanoes

DINENGDENG

Dinengdeng or inabraw is a Filipino vegetable dish that originated from the Ilocos region in the Philippines. During May, here in Agoo, La Union we have a tradition here to celebrate the dinengdeng festival. It is composed of different vegetables that are usually grown in our backyard. This dish use an fried or grilled shrimp as the toppings and to add flavorAny variety of fish can be used also. Addition of this is the “bagoong isda” or the unprocessed fish sauce. Aside from being healthy, this dish is also easy to prepare. You should be ok as long as you know how to fried or grill a shrimp or fish and boil vegetables. My mother typically do shrimp, I recommend cooking it for a few minutes with the vegetables in order to add more flavor to the dish. My mother loved to cook dinengdeng because it is healthy. She always make sure that her dish was delicious. I loved it when she cooked dinengdeng. We Ilokano's love to it vegetables. It was the best dish that Ilokano people has. So try it!
